Oh.
Daddy?
You must be very tired, but Ron Ziegler said that the reports out of Texas were just excellent.
Oh, Daddy, listen, I want to tell you what happened.
And I saw the big card when I got in.
That's the nicest thing.
Wasn't that nice?
But listen, let me tell you about that reception.
That was completely the Dallas Republicans' idea, and they didn't advertise it.
No press was there.
It was all word of mouth, and there were over 300 people at 4.30 in the afternoon for a reception.
They were sort of their top people.
And then I wanted to tell you that in Denison there was a crowd of about 1,000.
And what really pleased me and what I thought was very, very encouraging was that there was one very noticeable large applause of the whole event.
And that came when, in the process of introducing me, they introduced me as the daughter of the man who could be called the peacemaker who brought peace to the United States.
You, Richard Nixon.
And that was the biggest applause of the whole thing.
More than for President Eisenhower or anything I said.
So I thought that was good.
It was an overwhelmingly friendly crowd.
You've got to work again tomorrow, I understand.
What are you going to do tomorrow?
You know, I have the Farm Broadcasters of America and the Apache Indians giving you some award.
That's all it is tomorrow.
But listen, I wanted to suggest that you can...
Did it rain on your trip on the start?
Oh, uh, not, uh, no, not at the first part.
And then we were eating at the time it rained, and everything just worked out fine.
You did really good.
Yeah, and, uh, fine, and, uh, well, now you get a little good rest now.
You've been working awful hard, sweetie.
No, I haven't.
Fine, fine.
I was just so thrilled with that, those pieces, Dallas, and...
Right, right.
Incidentally, uh, several people said John Mitchell was very good on television.
That's what David said.
And do you know Mark Evans of Metromedia?
Yes, sir.
We saw him today.
He thought Mitchell was excellent.
Yes, well, everybody said he... Well, that's good.
He cut up Dean and Magruder and all the rest.
Yeah, good.
That's good, sweetie.
Good.
You get a good night's sleep.
Okay.
Bye.
Thanks for calling.
Bye.
