("Bob"); White House operator; Woods, Rose Mary Recording device: Old Executive Office Building Source: https://www.easynixon.org/tapes/260-021 This transcript was generated automatically by AI (WhisperX) and has not been reviewed for accuracy. Do not cite it as authoritative. [2:13:07] Yeah. [2:13:27] Oh, I got freed up so that I can't eat back. [2:13:39] Now, you wouldn't want to climb. [2:15:18] a little headline out of our rant today. [2:15:27] That's a good one. [2:15:27] I can't find anybody that does a business with on a secret basis. [2:15:53] There are some people over there that inquire too, and I'm up there inquiring as well. [2:15:57] That's good to know. [2:15:58] That's good to know. [2:15:58] That's what I told you, what I inquire to. [2:16:00] You have somebody working on that, because I wrote some report, but when you put it out, I told everybody to work on it. [2:16:04] Well, I was going to see if I could find out. [2:16:06] I remember I told that group that you had a condition with the shirts, and I'm going to call the board of relations, and I'm going to cut them off, too. [2:16:11] Take me back to my show, and we can talk about it. [2:16:21] I think this is a very good move. [2:16:25] I think this is the kind of thing that people would expect you to do. [2:16:35] Rather than sit back and say, the horse is out of the barn. [2:16:51] Incidentally, there's a very good article by the Wall Street Journal's Supreme Court reporter. [2:17:18] in today's Wall Street Journal in which he says Mrs. Graham and Mr. Sulzberger didn't read that opinion very carefully. [2:17:25] There's nothing in there for the newspapers to shout about. [2:17:30] Then he goes through and he pulls out of all of the various opinions of the justices, the individual opinions, the very [2:17:43] detrimental language. [2:17:46] And I took great comfort then from this guy in the Wall Street Journal, because he said, remember, all they got was a three-paragraph per curiam opinion, which is the opinion of the court. [2:17:58] And he said, there's nothing in there that says the First Amendment is sacred, that we don't interfere with the press, and all that. [2:18:05] It just strictly turns on the facts. [2:18:07] But then you see, you go back and you read white, and you read even black, [2:18:12] And he said, they all say there's criminal liability. [2:18:15] They all say that in the right case, prior restraint will lie. [2:18:18] And he says, a whole new doctrinal law has been constructed which limits the scope of the First Amendment. [2:18:24] And so he, it's the first really analytical piece that I've seen anybody who talks about the First Amendment, I think, really, really instructs me to accept. [2:18:44] It's the price of the first amendment. [2:18:54] They would reason that way. [2:18:58] Not me. [2:18:58] They would reason that way. [2:19:01] It now appears that that was a bit long. [2:19:07] It was reported on TV by Dana Shore, Steve New York, being the Washington Post liar. [2:19:14] So they pulled the transcript on and it appears that that was during an interchange between Father Stewart and Beverly. [2:19:24] Whenever you ask me to get you two documents, or I may say one document, but within this bunch that would follow the laws of the life, possible laws of the life, I think there are two. [2:19:39] and they involve CIA agents who are presently in place. [2:19:45] I wish they were just soldiers, but they aren't. [2:19:48] Their CIA agents are all right, and they're working. [2:19:50] Well, except that, you know, it's an emotional thing. [2:19:54] But, I don't see if I can find them here. [2:20:02] Anyway, they're in the press, and... [2:20:07] If they all find themselves without anything more, they would justify our having gone to court for the injunctions in order to give us time to get these poor devils out of there. [2:20:15] Let me say a couple of things that I had in mind. [2:20:17] Bob, there are two different faces. [2:20:21] There's one in which John should handle it, the other in which he's got to handle it. [2:20:28] I think we should separate. [2:20:31] John? [2:20:32] The other thing is the investigation of the conspiracy. [2:20:52] Now that is my requirement on something that I want to do again. [2:20:57] What I meant is, I think this requires, and I want you to help, but I think this requires a great guy, and he's really will go after it. [2:21:05] Now this conspiracy thing, I think it's real now. [2:21:08] I think there's things in the channel, there's something really... [2:21:11] More, his wife's friend basically is what we had in the, in the whole, his family, the tele-family thing. [2:21:17] His friend and all of them, these people were all crazy for each other, putting gun inductions on them. [2:21:23] I gathered Ellsberg had a press conference last night or so. [2:21:27] Yeah. [2:21:27] That was in the paper this morning. [2:21:29] Yeah. [2:21:29] That's what he had with friends. [2:21:31] Now, your suggestion of a fight court is very good. [2:21:35] I want you to hear his conversation. [2:21:39] Would you get me Mr. Gerald Ford, please? [2:21:42] Congressman Ford? [2:21:45] Yes, sir. [2:21:46] See, I've heard he's the chairman of the Committee on American Activities. [2:21:50] He's a good man. [2:21:51] Also, he's a senator-in-rank for government. [2:21:53] Now, this is a chance for him to be a shoo-in for government. [2:21:58] He would take this and go after these goddamn spies. [2:22:02] You know what I mean? [2:22:04] You know what I mean? [2:22:04] You know what? [2:22:05] Freedom of the press. [2:22:06] He goes after these seemingly committed jobs. [2:22:10] You call these people up and they are destroyed by coming to work and they enacting life. [2:22:16] You can't call a guy that's being indicted. [2:22:18] If he weren't indicted, he'd have called COCOA. [2:22:21] See, so what did you do? [2:22:26] You put them on their own. [2:22:28] What did you do? [2:22:29] I love them coming there to insult and criminalize you. [2:22:34] He'd waltz around and he'd call the others. [2:22:37] Get everything you can. [2:22:40] I don't know what the exact kind of job it is, but it's particularly required. [2:22:49] I was nice. [2:22:51] Well, I was totally nice, though. [2:22:56] I was obstructive. [2:23:00] and Mandel and Chu were talking about the historical part. [2:23:05] But I can tell you that I, as a full lawyer, if you will, the success of the investigation depends on hard work. [2:23:15] If you run out of everything, it's a mess. [2:23:17] And also, it's the most fascinating work in reality. [2:23:20] As a matter of fact, I have even brought my life on a duration with you. [2:23:26] If you weren't in the middle of this domestic conflict, [2:23:31] I don't know if it would be worth your time. [2:23:34] Because of two additions to you, you love and go ahead and go. [2:23:40] God damn. [2:23:41] I love it. [2:23:42] I swear to God. [2:23:43] It's like the old fireworks. [2:23:44] It's a fascinating thing now. [2:23:47] And here you get the layers. [2:23:48] You've got to kick over the ass. [2:23:51] You've got to hang out again. [2:23:54] I can order it. [2:23:54] It's going to be so good. [2:23:58] Yeah. [2:24:00] Yeah. [2:24:03] Oh, yeah. [2:24:06] No, you can tell him that. [2:24:09] I'll have Mr. Hurley, Mr. Holden will call him. [2:24:15] I don't know if you can call him. [2:24:16] Just let him know that I have a message for him, Mr. Holden. [2:24:23] Thank you. [2:24:23] Can you go over to the floor and say, Jerry, here's the thing. [2:24:26] Ask Jerry if he feels my heart would do it. [2:24:30] And if he doesn't, does he have a man? [2:24:32] Well, we can get a committee hearing going. [2:24:34] Another way is to get a committee hearing going in the Senate. [2:24:40] There you go. [2:24:41] Oh, who's quite a guy. [2:24:43] I think he's going to call Peter Chandler to investigate it. [2:24:50] I think he is. [2:24:50] What I think you should do here is talk to... [2:24:58] The only thing here, I think John Mitchell will read it. [2:25:04] Let me look at this. [2:25:05] Mitchell will object, I think it will repel him due to the fact that as a lawyer, he was a lawyer, and I don't know if that's what I meant by it. [2:25:15] In the papers, I'm not going to be following one of the papers, sir. [2:25:20] And Mitchell is not frankly acute on this. [2:25:26] I know a couple of very ballsy young lawyers around here, well, who have had a lot of experience in this kind of work. [2:25:34] And I've got one in charge. [2:25:38] Which one? [2:25:38] Well, I'll just tell them about it. [2:25:40] Morgan used to try personal injury cases. [2:25:44] And, of course, that's 90% investigation. [2:25:45] Well, but it's not conspiracy. [2:25:47] Conspiracy. [2:25:48] But it's the same thing. [2:25:50] But it's the same thing. [2:25:51] Is he a conspiratorial guy? [2:25:53] This is one of the guys in the young group around here that's always stepping in. [2:25:58] He's convinced that three-fourths of the people we have in the White House staff are out to do a lot of that kind of stuff. [2:26:06] I gave Morgan another assignment the day it was coming up. [2:26:11] I didn't get an assignment, but I started to mention your name to some congressman and I let Morgan do it. [2:26:26] And here I want to get the control department and Richard Buchinski [2:26:32] the background was out, and he said, look, he said, I'm all for you, what you're trying to do, I was for your welfare programs, and I'm for your currency aid, because the trouble is, they're taking that figure and a half, and they're spending too much around buses, [2:26:47] and not have done a lot of help to these 100 million black kids where they are. [2:26:52] You know, they're the same way. [2:26:53] Now, Ben, the father of John, I just was, I don't know whether this is true, but if he thinks it's true, well, see, Pachinsky's got a little dam on his face because he's held our billion and a half hostage for a damn ethnic bill that he had up in there. [2:27:07] It's finally jarred loose now, though. [2:27:10] And we'll check that. [2:27:10] Did he talk to Morgan or did he want me to talk to him? [2:27:14] All I did, as he left, I was with John, rather John, and I said, now, out of the Congress, we're going to hold a market. [2:27:24] Oh, fine. [2:27:24] All right. [2:27:25] And I guess that made it work. [2:27:26] I've got to have lunch with Machinsky in a few days. [2:27:30] I just want you to know, you see, you're well aware of the fact, I don't agree, [2:27:35] with Carmen Schultz at all about using this, but I'm flying to the dot-net court. [2:27:39] I know you have to do a little of it. [2:27:40] Wow. [2:27:41] But that isn't the purpose. [2:27:42] That's right. [2:27:43] If there's money, you should just go into the schools. [2:27:47] But just the... [2:27:49] I don't think so. [2:27:51] I think it's going into teacher salaries, it's going into buildings and that kind of stuff. [2:28:14] And as a matter of fact, you know, the way we originally wrote it, it couldn't be sped up, was it? [2:28:20] And then Javits offered it. [2:28:21] And we've taken care of it. [2:28:46] I wanted to get the hell off the Philadelphia plane. [2:28:50] Here's what we're going to do. [2:28:52] You see, let me tell you, what he said about the heart attacks last year was . [2:28:58] He said, you didn't ask me to do that, but 150,000 of us, and nobody else was supportive. [2:29:08] We marched for it. [2:29:09] And this fellow said they're having racism. [2:29:15] I didn't know he said it. [2:29:16] I didn't know he said it. [2:29:17] But he did say it. [2:29:18] He did say it because Brendan has come up with it. [2:29:21] Brendan has come up with it because I got there when he said it. [2:29:25] Fletcher, of course, is the rest of the people. [2:29:27] Fletcher thinks he's doing what we want. [2:29:29] Well, I got that. [2:29:30] He said it. [2:29:30] But I got it at the time. [2:29:32] I got that. [2:29:32] Fletcher is doing what he thinks we want. [2:29:34] And there are those who believe in me. [2:29:36] But what else do you plan to make supposed with blacks? [2:29:40] I don't think it does. [2:29:42] I know that it loses votes with rights. [2:29:44] My view is, do it. [2:29:46] Do a little of it, but don't have, don't, you see, look, these guys are proud. [2:29:51] Here he comes in wearing an American flag and all that, and God damn it, he says, look, he says, did you know 25% of my membership was black? [2:30:01] The building crazy New Yorker. [2:30:03] Now, God damn it, that's enough for New York. [2:30:05] There would be many more jobs than that, do they? [2:30:07] That's a much higher ratio than any place else in the country. [2:30:12] I imagine half the population of New York City is going to agree as well. [2:30:18] Is he my client? [2:30:18] The deal I cut with Fletcher is this, that he would go to the National Committee, that he would be on domestic council working group on the subject of economic discrimination, which is his big bag over there. [2:30:35] It would be all finished by October 15th. [2:30:38] So that way, Hutchin gets him out of the Labor Department. [2:30:42] And that's the end of his government career, isn't it? [2:30:59] Yeah. [2:31:00] Now, he's going to speak a lot this summer. [2:31:01] He's going to all the black conventions this summer. [2:31:05] He's going to speak about every one of them. [2:31:07] Can we, however, get him to have a broader speech? [2:31:10] He's got to have a broader speech. [2:31:11] You cannot go out and beat the building trades over the head. [2:31:14] All the trades are for what we're doing. [2:31:16] The thing that he can speak about is a minority business center product. [2:31:21] Welfare reform. [2:31:22] Welfare reform, revenue sharing. [2:31:24] And the way we've gotten into discrimination, the way we've brought the schools in, [2:31:29] 38% of the kids, the black kids in this council are the majority white people. [2:31:33] Black colleges. [2:31:35] He's got to do $150 million. [2:31:36] He's got to order all the black colleges. [2:31:38] And I think you should say, when this administration came in, these black colleges were getting a share in the state, 25 million, whatever it was. [2:31:47] Well, they're getting $150 million. [2:31:49] The president, the person, I was in the room when he ordered. [2:31:51] See, the whole thing programmed. [2:31:53] All right, over there. [2:31:54] How does he can't program? [2:31:56] That's the whole problem. [2:32:02] Alright, good. [2:32:06] Now that will take a little time because he's got a lot of speaking engagements and stuff and he'll be there in another couple of months. [2:32:12] But you said it ran him flat that he's on his way out. [2:32:26] Well, what I think is this, I just want, I smell here a hell of a good case, which will reflect on the papers. [2:32:33] The fact, in other words, that they've got their hands in with a bunch of people that are putting themselves above the law. [2:32:42] And if we give any praise to them, of course you should have a paper where you can jump on it and nominate them. [2:32:54] that we might, that we're going to have something else, probably. [2:32:56] And whenever we do, I have a, as they say, [2:33:05] Right now, this is the result of negotiations with the highest levels of their advocacy. [2:33:11] War going on. [2:33:13] We're going to have peace in the world. [2:33:15] We've got to do that. [2:33:16] I've got to protect it. [2:33:17] I've got to fight it. [2:33:17] I'm concerned about the lives and millions of people that come before the right of a paper to make money on a circulating secret cosmos. [2:33:24] And I get my foot on that. [2:33:25] To a certain extent, that is what it's all about. [2:33:30] Well, on the conspiracy thing, if you want to run it out of here, I think we've got a couple of guys that might be able to do it. [2:33:39] Oh, should we? [2:33:39] I'm not sure we should. [2:33:41] I think there might be some, from my outside, some disadvantage to that. [2:33:47] Well, we've got Colson. [2:33:48] We could run it out of his shop. [2:33:52] But he's got a lot of stuff on it. [2:33:53] But I think we've got to make a decision. [2:33:55] And let me say, you, the three of you should sit down and figure out where the hell we want to run it. [2:34:01] Now, I don't know how to run it. [2:34:03] But goddamn it, if you put it out in Congress, then the best thing is to have it in the Congress. [2:34:12] And then us will operate from the Congress. [2:34:15] And the other thing, of course, is we've got to find a way [2:34:19] It'd be the columns, the paper, get the papers to write. [2:34:22] See, papers can start the presentation. [2:34:25] Yeah. [2:34:25] And, uh, did you talk to the president at all about that? [2:34:32] I don't know whether he's smart enough. [2:34:33] Well, I'm not sure. [2:34:34] Hey, Gallup said he's not. [2:34:36] He said he's good. [2:34:37] The program thinks pretty well. [2:34:41] Uh, that may be all you need. [2:34:43] You might be better if he isn't too smart, because he might get what he's told. [2:34:50] You know, a young guy with any kind of ability up there, he makes himself the center. [2:34:55] I did it. [2:34:57] John, this guy, any kind of person who, well, if he's on a committee, who becomes, he can choose. [2:35:04] I don't want to, I don't like to, but you want to remember. [2:35:10] When I investigated his case, God damn it, I was the last ranking man on the committee. [2:35:16] And became a national celebrity. [2:35:23] Tremendous opportunity. [2:35:24] That's the same guy who did this. [2:35:27] That guy, or a guy like, well, I don't know. [2:35:31] I got to look over. [2:35:32] I don't know what Republicans are on that committee. [2:35:35] But there may be a couple of Republicans. [2:35:36] You see the minority guys, of course, didn't have either of the Republicans work together. [2:35:41] Plenty of glory in them for both. [2:35:43] And we'll have them conduct an investigation of this thing. [2:35:47] So what I want you to talk to Jerry about is to say, [2:35:51] Now, on the other hand, you say we may not want to run it out of here, but we've got to have a group that's in charge of it, but not openly running it. [2:36:07] You see what I mean? [2:36:11] This is one place where we can pick a guy that was tricky as a son of a bitch. [2:36:15] And maybe Blair just might want to make a hero of himself. [2:36:19] I want you two to have a talk with Blair. [2:36:22] He's gone now for three weeks. [2:36:24] Not well, but that's... Yeah. [2:36:27] What about when I... [2:36:32] I don't know about his, you know, talent for, for doing it, but he certainly has the right instinct. [2:36:39] Well, well, bring him in and say, now, all right, this is something we, the president orders it. [2:36:44] We want to kind of get in that, get the admiral in, whoever he is, the general that I'm moving in charge. [2:36:50] Say, we're going to find out. [2:36:51] I want to see it. [2:36:52] I want to move it. [2:36:54] We, I just got, we've got to have somebody to go, go. [2:36:57] The difference between this case, John, and where I was on the fence is tremendous. [2:37:07] Then, I had no cooperation. [2:37:08] I had opposition of the FBI. [2:37:10] Here, they had support of the FBI. [2:37:13] I didn't even know we had a military espionage group. [2:37:16] They didn't ever tell me that. [2:37:18] They served with them in that case, too, and they did. [2:37:22] And yet it was able, we were able to do it. [2:37:24] Here, it's going to be like, it's going to be like shooting fish in a bowl. [2:37:28] Here you get every reason to bring the military to see how to move in, because it is the compromise of the military. [2:37:35] I just think somebody's got to be in charge. [2:37:37] Now, I don't see any reason why, and that's probably what John's doing. [2:37:43] John has got to concentrate on his goals. [2:37:50] And so I think we should, on the other hand, come to think about it, Morgan is a totally dependable guy. [2:37:59] Maybe, that's just what Martin is doing, the in-house guy. [2:38:03] That guy can do SI over, A over, any good man he's got. [2:38:05] I wonder if Martin isn't just as good a man as he's got here within the White House staff. [2:38:11] He's got a guy that works for him by the name of John Evans, who's also very good. [2:38:15] I understand a man who has done quite a lot of trial work and has a feel for how one develops a case. [2:38:23] I would then complete the two of that. [2:38:25] They're very brassy. [2:38:27] They don't take any crap off of your arms. [2:38:32] And it appeals to me that they could do this. [2:38:37] The moment you said very brassy, you sold me. [2:38:45] I kind of like getting somebody like that when you didn't get him. [2:38:49] Like this guy Colson, another former CIA guy, get him in as part of the FBI. [2:38:54] You've got to have somebody, man, that knows the business. [2:38:57] And you've got to, that's why Dick Allen is around, bring him in on it, too. [2:39:02] Allen would like to sit on the steering committee. [2:39:04] I mean, Allen's recommendation wasn't always, I think, the way that it was done, and I had to pick Allen. [2:39:09] That's it, we'd be the steering committee. [2:39:14] Well, you might. [2:39:15] Well, maybe keep Colson. [2:39:16] Colson probably missed in some other things. [2:39:20] He's awfully good at this stuff. [2:39:22] But he's also been caught previously, so maybe it isn't too bad that he hasn't. [2:39:27] I like Morgan. [2:39:28] I just think Morgan sounds good. [2:39:29] He could still do it to the extent that he has to, because he has a guy that is looking after that, and he doesn't have to spend the whole time on that guy. [2:41:01] First Amendment, I think, protects him. [2:41:02] Dick Allen called today. [2:41:04] He says, I found exactly the guy for you. [2:41:06] You know, he's all excited about it. [2:41:11] The more he talks, the less good he sounds. [2:41:13] But he's convinced that he's the guy. [2:41:18] He was with LTV here. [2:41:20] He's been in the consulting business. [2:41:25] He knows all of our people. [2:41:27] He came to Washington the same time we did. [2:41:32] Jackie's offered him a job in the drug business. [2:41:33] Rose, I wanted to tell you that when you finish that, you can interrupt Warren, and she'll come over to have it sent to Andrew, the guy over there, and send a copy to me. [2:41:37] Let's see here. [2:41:37] I'm trying to remember the time. [2:42:02] Sure. [2:42:03] Would that work? [2:42:03] No, no, I won't worry. [2:42:04] You found that cool? [2:42:04] Yeah, I didn't do that. [2:42:04] Well, I'm sorry, because he's angry. [2:42:05] I'm sorry. [2:42:05] I'm sorry. [2:42:06] I'm sorry. [2:42:24] But yes, I am. [2:42:25] By 9 o'clock, I mean by 9 o'clock, I've got a quarter of an hour. [2:42:29] And I have, maybe he's going to be back in a second. [2:42:42] All right. [2:42:43] Alan described this guy as ruthless, quiet, careful, low-growth, gets things done. [2:42:49] He'll track very well with all of us. [2:42:52] He's very concerned about the health of the administration. [2:42:57] He is concerned, he thinks they're out to get us and all that, but he's not a fanatic. [2:43:02] He's not a super-right. [2:43:03] He could be absolutely certain I would want secrecy. [2:43:09] He says John Tower and Sean Thurman would, he had a wide deal of acquaintances. [2:43:21] He said Tower and Thurman would strongly vouch for it. [2:43:26] I wonder if Tower, if Tower could take this and do it in the Senate. [2:43:33] I'm not sure about that. [2:43:35] I think he sees the possibility of [2:43:42] Yeah, yeah, it's a Texas problem. [2:43:47] He's got a little bit of a question. [2:43:50] But the only thing is that all these people are against Johnson. [2:43:55] And I think bringing him out would help. [2:43:59] I think he's playing after Johnson's enemies. [2:44:02] I don't think he's very against them. [2:44:12] Well, I just think that somebody who hasn't shown up [2:44:19] uh, by party. [2:44:20] Now I know that a young congressman who's, who's a, not a young man, is a better prospect for us than Coward. [2:44:26] He's never been on his own base. [2:44:28] The difficulty with the committee, the difficulty with one congressman is that he can't call people to testify. [2:44:32] No, he's got to, he's got to have a committee. [2:44:36] He's got to have a committee on him. [2:44:38] So it's got to be somebody of that eye for him, in my opinion. [2:44:40] It could be on the, uh, maybe on the holiday. [2:44:50] I think is the man. [2:44:54] was all about. [2:44:57] He let it go. [2:44:58] He wanted to grow up with him. [2:45:09] Did he? [2:45:13] Yeah. [2:45:13] . [2:45:18] We'll have some fun with it. [2:45:20] I noticed that we still haven't got our neural layers in place. [2:45:24] We're still having them in line. [2:45:25] I see where it's at. [2:45:27] I thought I said, well, there's some operating problems. [2:45:30] There's some digital elaborating. [2:45:33] What was it like? [2:45:36] What happened? [2:45:38] The alarming increase. [2:45:39] It still creeps up. [2:45:42] Yeah. [2:45:44] Bill, get your congressional directory out. [2:45:46] You got my hand doing it. [2:45:47] Look at the committee, high court's committee, and give me the reason that the Republicans don't. [2:45:54] . [2:46:13] Well, Ashbrook on it. [2:46:16] He's a ranking man. [2:46:17] Ashbrook? [2:46:18] Why not? [2:46:20] Rob? [2:46:20] He's all right. [2:46:22] Fletcher Thompson? [2:46:26] Oh, boy, McVirgin. [2:46:27] John Smith. [2:46:28] Good. [2:46:30] Now, who are the Democrats? [2:46:33] Who? [2:46:35] Go ahead. [2:46:36] Good. [2:46:45] Now, how would that committee be, do you think, to conduct an investigation of at least this conspiracy, you know what I mean? [2:46:52] Far better than having these people invited and so forth. [2:46:57] Would you call them for it today and say, you know, let's get you this, you know, and that's not required? [2:47:04] What kind of a staff plan do they have before they can effect that operation? [2:47:07] Do you know anything about it? [2:47:11] Do you need counsel? [2:47:13] Is he coming? [2:47:20] Yeah. [2:47:21] The unique eye for it would be, he's running for governor now. [2:47:25] I think he ought to be willing to take a thing like this. [2:47:30] Headlines. [2:47:30] We've got to make it an actual figure. [2:47:33] And we can have these here. [2:47:38] And we've got an act, is that we will actually work with this place. [2:47:45] This place. [2:47:45] Well, Dr. Thompson would work with it. [2:47:50] Fletcher wants to run for the Senate. [2:47:52] All right. [2:47:53] Is Fletcher a . [2:47:55] . [2:47:55] . [2:47:55] Yeah. [2:47:57] Is Fletcher a . [2:47:58] . [2:47:58] . [2:47:58] All right. [2:47:58] I'll have . [2:48:04] . [2:48:04] . [2:48:04] Well, why don't you . [2:48:10] . [2:48:10] . [2:48:11] Yeah, why don't you do a little . [2:48:13] . [2:48:13] . [2:48:13] do a little swimming around, something to see whether they'd like to . [2:48:18] . [2:48:18] . [2:48:19] Uh... [2:48:23] Well, look, first of all, it can't be for me, of course. [2:48:25] But what I'm getting at is, it would seem to me that this is an opportunity for that committee to resuscitate something. [2:48:32] You know what I mean? [2:48:33] It can become a very valuable committee if it's all up there. [2:48:37] And, you see, Halperin, Gale, we have lots of names. [2:48:42] Kerr over in Northern NSC staff, or the NSC staff, you know, you actually call them, give them a lie detector test. [2:48:48] They haven't fallen. [2:48:50] What do you think? [2:48:52] Yeah. [2:48:52] Yeah. [2:48:52] Yeah. [2:48:52] Yeah. [2:48:52] Yeah. [2:48:52] Yeah. [2:48:53] And who's that? [2:48:54] Yeah, that's your next super big author, right? [2:49:10] I don't think he would. [2:49:11] I would not. [2:49:12] He said, I towards people should step in and preempt this field. [2:49:17] Now, let me say this. [2:49:19] I told Ford, Ford is 11. [2:49:23] And I called him. [2:49:24] I said, he's on a burning tree. [2:49:28] Yeah, and so in doing this, why don't you work with, you call forward and sit down with them and I can see what their forethought is on that idea. [2:49:40] And then, be in touch with, you know, the . [2:49:44] But over the weekend, and actually it won't be over the weekend, it will be over the next place in motion, but just to see if this committee, [2:49:55] They had a cooperation with the FBI, they had a cooperation with the L.A., they had a cooperation with everybody leaving behind in the city. [2:50:04] And it's distinguished from an article of the Association of the Alliance. [2:50:06] They were all against it. [2:50:08] So this is a different ball. [2:50:10] And, uh, I, Trump, will hang it up today. [2:50:18] Yeah. [2:50:19] Yeah. [2:50:20] Alright. [2:50:22] Yeah. [2:50:23] Alright. [2:50:24] Good. [2:50:27] and ask for an audience. [2:50:28] Let me make those speeches. [2:50:33] Okay. [2:50:34] Okay. [2:50:34] I'm a former Bearcat Republican. [2:50:35] There are two Bertrands. [2:50:37] I've got to ask you a question. [2:50:40] I was assigned. [2:50:42] Assigned? [2:50:43] Yeah. [2:50:43] He's very good, too. [2:50:44] He's a great little guy. [2:50:48] I think that's the link. [2:50:49] Get it in that committee. [2:50:50] I think that's the link. [2:50:52] Get somebody on here to do it. [2:50:54] And we've got to crush the darkness. [2:50:56] Make them walk with us. [2:50:57] See, that's where our guys are now. [2:50:59] That's it. [2:50:59] We get the witnesses, and we leave the stories. [2:51:02] We can help keep pushing the committee, too, especially if we get... [2:51:06] if their counsel is in advance. [2:51:09] Sanders is the name of the counselor. [2:51:10] He could get a special counsel. [2:51:11] See, Tim has told them all. [2:51:13] Tim has told them all what he gives them. [2:51:15] But I think, really, what they might mention about the special counsel, do just this. [2:51:22] But you see, what a marvelous opportunity they can really take this and go. [2:51:35] It could make all these guys angry. [2:51:38] The thing is to crank them all up. [2:51:39] Everyone, absolutely all, and make speeches about the spy ring. [2:51:42] Televise their hearings. [2:51:44] Tell them the beauty of this speech. [2:51:47] The congressmen have got nothing to talk about. [2:51:51] They don't want to talk about it. [2:51:53] You know, they do. [2:51:54] Naturally, it's better than any headlines. [2:51:56] Better than none. [2:51:57] But, you know, what's going to charge up an audience? [2:51:59] Jesus Christ, they'll be hanging from the rafters. [2:52:02] And saying, [2:52:05] If you look at the only Jews, just find one that is a Jew. [2:52:11] The Defense Department called me this afternoon. [2:52:16] They located two copying places here that were approached. [2:52:21] one by somebody from the Hill, and another by somebody... Now, they should be called in. [2:52:29] A company. [2:52:29] All these leads are out. [2:52:31] That's right. [2:52:32] And they brought in top secret documents. [2:52:34] Now, where can we pull all these together? [2:52:36] You see, I hear that one. [2:52:37] I hear something. [2:52:39] Colson Shaw, you've got some leads. [2:52:41] You've got one guy to pull them all together. [2:52:44] All right. [2:52:45] And then call them all in. [2:52:48] Well, they can be programmed, but if left to their own devices, they'll just plod around the way they always do to fill their damn forms out. [2:53:01] But if Mitchell sent two or three of his best guys over here out of the Bureau, [2:53:06] And Morgan could program and say, now you go out and I want you to go to this copy company and this is what I want you to find out. [2:53:11] What do you think about Morgan, whether he can run something like this and he could run the other one like this? [2:53:20] Morgan may be right. [2:53:22] How about Crow? [2:53:23] Well, of course he's gone his way around the world right now. [2:53:28] Well, how about Gary? [2:53:29] I'll usually get another call. [2:53:30] Any more than you can. [2:53:32] I'll tell you, Morgan, though, is experienced in everything. [2:53:33] At this time, he's got to put a screw around him. [2:53:36] It is the screw around him. [2:53:37] Because, again, he's so good at doing stuff himself, but he's not good at orchestrating a bunch of people. [2:53:40] At least I don't know. [2:53:41] I'm going to ask you that. [2:53:43] Now, maybe this guy, for instance, is one of these other people who went through the orchestration. [2:53:49] Oh, yeah, this fellow is. [2:53:50] Well, you see the problem. [2:53:51] All right, follow up on it, okay? [2:53:53] That's the big game. [2:53:55] That's the big game set here. [2:53:56] That's the big game on that. [2:53:57] Let's forget it. [2:53:58] I want to hear from one another. [2:54:01] And I didn't, I know nothing about it. [2:54:03] Except on the declassification thing, we're on the right track there. [2:54:06] I had a red question at the right follow-up. [2:54:09] You can take charge of this thing. [2:54:11] But on that, we've got, there, there is where we do what we need to do. [2:54:14] Or somebody that understands the Cuban Missile Crackers, that understands, that knows what it's looking, you know just how carefully I threw in the left return for you two and the other track. [2:54:24] Because it's a truly, left-wingers, I don't know who those people were, but I threw them all off the track. [2:54:31] I assume that you wanted some of that to get out, and so I think the way we put it, we're aware that that is a part of our [2:54:54] Those guys are not set up to do the D-class company. [2:55:01] We need to set up something else to do that. [2:55:09] I decided that what I'm going to do tomorrow on that damn thing bothers you. [2:55:14] I just... [2:55:15] I think maybe I'll read... [2:55:21] But I've got it all on my level. [2:55:25] It's only 12 minutes and then maybe try to finish the John Brown body without me. [2:55:37] It's far more effective to win. [2:55:41] But at the time, I don't think there's [2:55:47] That much to read? [2:55:48] You know what we're talking about, July 3rd. [2:55:50] And we had a Sapphire Metagraph, Andrews made one. [2:55:54] I find that basically it has to be inspirational. [2:55:57] It's damn hard to be inspirational to read. [2:56:00] That's the problem. [2:56:00] You've got to read slowly, I'm sure. [2:56:06] Oh, well, if you read slowly, it kills them. [2:56:07] If you read fast, you can't go fast and run through. [2:56:10] You can't get out. [2:56:12] I didn't know that. [2:56:15] Can I hit you on a couple of odds and ends here? [2:56:19] One is cyclamates. [2:56:20] You remember Mitchell and I were in and we talked to you about indemnifying cyclamates. [2:56:27] And Mitchell recommends strongly we protect the Congress. [2:56:31] Not strongly that we come down hard in favor of indemnification. [2:56:36] Help us with that. [2:56:39] I'll tell you what I've done. [2:56:41] Keep it from becoming a precedent. [2:56:43] I have taken an administration position contrary to identification of pesticides. [2:56:49] And so we'll be on both sides of the issue, but I will help our California farms with the tech cycle next month. [2:56:54] I want to help California. [2:56:56] Now the other issue is your friend Owings and his small operation. [2:57:02] What are they doing there? [2:57:04] Well, he's at work. [2:57:06] He runs boatloaders around. [2:57:08] The planning is going forward by Skidmore Owings. [2:57:12] And they submitted a contract to the interior. [2:57:14] I just want you to know it's going to cost a few bucks, but I'm sure. [2:57:18] Well, this is sounding like something good. [2:57:21] Come in. [2:57:21] Well, I haven't seen anything. [2:57:22] I haven't seen any drawings or anything. [2:57:24] He's going to come in in about 30 days with some preliminary sketches. [2:57:32] So if you don't know how many words is there, you have to know what the two of them are talking about. [2:57:50] Rose, what about the thing on the end? [2:57:52] They will put that on the end. [2:57:55] We'll send that picture over to you. [2:58:19] . [2:58:19] . [2:58:19] . [2:58:43] Okay. [2:58:44] This is a little line, this kid, Andrew, turned to you. [2:58:47] It's very nice. [2:58:47] If we are a major up in America, if America is a major up in the nation, the commitment each of us makes cannot be less than that of the great Declaration of the Six Problems. [2:59:06] that cannot be less than that of the 56 signers. [2:59:08] You can almost see the character and dedication on their faces in the page that we have of that convention. [2:59:13] It isn't these magnates and heralds that we have around us here the entire time. [2:59:19] And it isn't another famous name from the Science of Declaration which hangs from the top of your, probably in my office quite often. [2:59:28] That one I like especially because for some reason, the artist never mentioned any of the figures in the background with the singer sketching them in the left blank. [2:59:37] And so it always reminds us that the American Revolution is on the edge of business, and the important role is still only to reach those in power. [2:59:43] Anyone can read the assignment of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the Right. [2:59:48] We write our names, but the liars do good. [2:59:52] Not bad. [2:59:55] One of America's new voters, Miss Cynthia, spoke words a few days ago that all Americans should have listened to. [3:00:04] I think the time has come to defend America. [3:00:09] I simply feel on such an evening as this. [3:00:18] That thought should be given to the goodness of America, to the freedom it provides, greater than anything else in the world around it, even though there is no attack government that makes that freedom possible. [3:00:28] Those countries who a few years ago laid prostrate for more would be primary today than for the rest of the day in America. [3:00:32] We are truly man and soul. [3:00:34] No country has stood more firmly than she. [3:00:36] We have just as she was just, like the generous she was generous, and more deserving of praise than the people of America. [3:00:48] You don't see any objection to read it, do you? [3:01:03] No, I agree with Bob that when you read slowly, you're very effective. [3:01:09] When you read fast, you're not. [3:01:16] That's what you're reading. [3:01:17] You're reading. [3:01:18] You're going through having, you know, getting a lot longer list cover. [3:01:22] I think it is. [3:01:22] I think it's... Oh, you've got to go slower. [3:01:26] Okay. [3:01:27] Material like that has to be written. [3:01:33] This? [3:01:33] Yep. [3:01:34] That kind of stuff has to be written. [3:01:36] I think so. [3:01:37] We'll see. [3:01:42] Because the second, especially if you, all that matters when you read is that you'll look up for the last paragraph, look at it again, and that's what they'll all remember. [3:01:54] What is Berger going to do? [3:01:55] Oh, they're all going to read. [3:01:59] Three and a half minutes. [3:02:01] Everybody else is going to read. [3:02:02] Which is another reason for me to agree with Bill Rice and Peter as a contribution, and I do with the country. [3:02:09] They'll be reading. [3:02:11] It's a little bit of a lot of things you can do when you go to an island or a town. [3:02:21] This is what I'll be treating. [3:02:22] I've got to go to Eastern, or I've got others. [3:02:25] Well, I feel very good, John, about the, about the way you're, you're, get I-100 to go, get that thing over there, put a man in charge, get all the leads in, and let us go on. [3:02:37] Do you understand? [3:02:38] At some point, we'll start covering this stuff up fast, and all align for each other. [3:02:44] Put a man in there, put a man in there, sit him right up together, and take him down.
