Poff, Richard H.

Richard H. Poff, a Republican Congressman from Virginia's 6th district, was a key figure during the Nixon administration. In 1971, President Nixon seriously considered him for a nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, but Poff ultimately withdrew his name from consideration. He continued to serve in the House of Representatives until he resigned in August 1972 to accept an appointment as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
