Packard, David

David Packard served as the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense from January 1969 until his resignation in December 1971. [1, 3] During the early part of the Nixon taping period, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Pentagon, focusing on reforming procurement and management practices. [8] He played a key role in implementing the Nixon administration's policy of turning over the conduct of the Vietnam War to Vietnamese forces before returning to his company, Hewlett-Packard. [8]
