Higby, Lawrence M.

Lawrence M. Higby served as Deputy Assistant to the President and the primary administrative aide to White House Chief of Staff H.R. Haldeman from January 1969 until May 1973. During the White House taping period (February 1971 – July 1973), Higby closely managed Haldeman's schedule and communications, and notably relayed the February 1971 order to Alexander Butterfield to install the secret voice-activated taping system. Following Haldeman's resignation in April 1973 amid the Watergate scandal, Higby transitioned to the Office of Management and Budget in May 1973, serving as an assistant to Deputy Director Frederic Malek for the remainder of the Nixon administration.
