Haldeman, H. R. ("Bob")

H. R. ("Bob") Haldeman served as President Richard Nixon's White House Chief of Staff from January 1969 until his resignation in April 1973. Acting as Nixon's primary gatekeeper and closest aide, Haldeman was a central figure during the White House taping period and is featured prominently in hundreds of recorded conversations. His tenure ended abruptly when he was forced to resign due to his deep involvement in the Watergate cover-up, most notably captured directing the obstruction of justice on the infamous "Smoking Gun" tape.
